Dear reader,
Despite all the difficulties 2020 brought, it was also a time of revelation for many people. It forced millions of people to re-evaluate their priorities and reimagine what their lives would look like. Tens of millions around the globe were uprooted and made a change for the better.
It reminded me how you only live once.
Before then, I had already spent years exploring what I would call life strategy. Professionally I was already using different methods for setting strategies for products and businesses. So, I was deep in figuring out how to set meaningful goals and stay driven day after day.
At some point, I realized I was putting in all this effort professionally. But personally, I didn’t have quite the same clarity about my goals. So I thought, why not try creating similar clarity and sense of mission for myself.
Seeing people of all ages and backgrounds make moves to improve their lives made me joyful. But at the same time, I started noticing how some made rash decisions and took huge bets.
Many people started investing for the first time in risk assets without fully understanding the possible downside. Others quit their jobs, assuming the grass is greener on the other side. Some lost almost everything and even considered committing suicide. Of those who left their jobs, 1 in 4 regretted their decision.
This ultimately encouraged me to take action and share the little I have learned about living purposefully and thinking about life strategically.
About Iiro
If you had known me as a kid, you would’ve expected me to grow old in the city I was from. Born and raised in Finland, I, too, didn’t see much reason to make any drastic changes. Finland is one of the safest and happiest countries in the world, with a growing high-tech industry and outstanding work-life balance.
Being somewhat reserved and risk-aware, I got a new perspective on life while spending a year studying in Australia. This new-found curiosity led me to start an entertainment tech startup in Helsinki, pioneer a digital innovation agency in London, disrupt the health insurance industry in San Francisco, and help thousands of people make their financial dreams come true in San Diego.
Moving from continent to continent and meeting people from different cultures with different ways of thinking made things in me connect in a new way.
Like a water droplet on a windshield, it showed me how life will choose a path by chance. But if you drag your finger across the glass, you can significantly impact which way it will go.
I believe everyone can make their best life come true. All you need is to know why you desire something, what it is, and how to get there. Helping you answer those questions for yourself is what the Mindframe Blog is about.
